About

I’m Joe, and I’m the entire staff of Lonely Guy Gadgets: writer, photographer, video editor, and the guy unboxing everything at my own kitchen table because there is no test lab, no team standup, and no one else to hand the camera to.

I’ve been writing hands-on gear reviews for years, the kind where I actually use the thing, live with it, and tell you honestly whether it’s worth your money. Lonely Guy Gadgets is where that continues, now on my own site, in written reviews and video both.

What I cover

Flashlights, EDC knives, camping and outdoor gear, computer and gaming hardware, cameras, and the general pile of gadgets that ends up in my apartment whether I asked for it or not. If it’s the kind of thing a gadget-savvy friend would actually tell you to buy, skip, or wait for a sale on, that’s the review I’m trying to write.

How reviews here actually work

Some products I buy myself. Others are sent to me for free by the brand in exchange for an honest review, no strings attached. They don’t see the review before it publishes, and they don’t get a say in what I write. Every review says clearly, right up top, which one it is, self-purchased or provided as a sample. If something doesn’t earn a recommendation, I say so.

The “Lonely Guy” part

It’s mostly accurate. Testing happens solo, my grouchy old dog supervises from a safe distance and offers no useful feedback, and “Zero hype. Zero fluff. Zero friends.” is less a tagline than a status update. That said, this isn’t a character I’m playing. It’s just an honest description of who’s actually writing these.
